| This is our now famous blue
violacea, awarded in 2001. Award description reads "One flower and one bud on one inflorescence; sepals and petals purplish blue; lip white with uniformly rich violet midlobe, side lobes blushed purplish blue, canary yellow centrally; column and anther cap light
purplish blue, darker basally; substance firm; texture crystalline; commended for unusually deep purplish color."
We do not have stem propagated plants. Instead, we did a selfing of this desirable flower and made other crosses with it. Selfing is the next best thing to the real McCoy. In the world of orchids - selfing is done to preserve desirable characteristic of the flower. We feel that there is good chance of getting something similar or better than 'Gulfstream Blue' from this group. We now have limited quantity of flasks available. There are 5 seedlings per flask - each plant has leaf span of 2-3 inches. First come first serve. Our Phal. venosa plants date back to the early 1980’s when the Osborne’s of Jemmco Orchids received a shipment from the South Pacific. ‘Red Mahogany’ AM/AOS was the outstanding plant that came in that shipment and it plus another clone, ‘Harvest’, are the background for all our venosa breeding. | |||||
